New Jersey Truck Collision Attorneys

Truck Accident FAQ

What should I do if I've been involved in a trucking accident in New Jersey?

Before you speak to anyone about your incident if you or a loved one has been involved in an accident with a truck please contact us for a free consultation with one of our skilled New Jersey truck crash attorneys.

You should always first be concerned with medical attention and get taken to the emergency room by a paramedic even if you think you are alright or unhurt. Some serious medical problems can take weeks or even months to appear following an accident.

What if I can't afford an attorney?

Lependorf & Silverstein are one of the few truck collision law offices in the state offering free, no-obligation legal consultations on any personal injury case. If we handle your case for you we work most every New Jersey trucking accident incident on a contingent basis.

Contingent fees are a preset amount of a successfully settled award. If we don't win your case you don't pay us these fees. There are never any hidden charges from us and we always factor our fees into any amount that we agree to settle on with the other parties involved.

What other things should I do to safeguard myself?

You should never sign any paperwork, admit any guilt, or agree to any settlement before speaking with a lawyer at our firm for free.

If possible you may want to take pictures of the scene of the accident, including all vehicles involved, their license plates, the road and weather conditions and as many different angles as you can. You should also have the police make a report and investigation. You should get the information of any driver involved, including their insurance carrier, policy numbers, truck license plate numbers and states, the truck driving license of any trucker involved and any other additional information you can.

What kind of medical treatment should I receive?

You should get immediate medical treatment as quickly and thoroughly as possible. In many cases emergency rooms have specialized trauma teams handling vehicle accidents. These teams will usually assess you medically, take x-rays, and treat you if necessary. You should follow up your emergency room visit with a visit to your primary care doctor. Never leave any detail or any minor pain or symptom out of your discussion with your doctor. A seemingly minor pain can turn into something very serious, including a full body paralysis, if left untreated.

My insurance company says they won't cover my vehicle, what should I do?

Contact our office for more information. If you have been involved in a trucking accident in New Jersey and are having problems from your insurance provider with having all of your legally owed claims paid contact us.

In many New Jersey trucking accident cases our attorneys can have all insurance providers involved pay their legally owed amounts to the full.

Make sure and have the name and phone number of anyone you speak to at any insurance provider. You should also ask them to put anything they tell you into writing. Many times what insurance claims employees will do is to tell people they aren't covered but will back off of putting it in writing.
